Eating fresh produce is associated with lowered risk for many chronic diseases. However, most Americans’ diet, particularly those of
low-income households fall short of recommendations in the quantity of fruits and vegetables consumed.
The Center for Disease Control and the US department of Agriculture recommend increasing access to farmer’s markets in
combination with financial incentives as a way to effectively improve this issue.
